The Historic Sale of Michael Jordan’s Autographed Card

In a jaw-dropping turn of events, a 2003-04 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection autographed Michael Jordan Logoman card recently shattered records by selling for a staggering $2.928 million at a Goldin auction. This particular card, numbered 1-of-1, is now officially the most expensive Jordan card ever sold.

Logoman cards are renowned for their exclusivity, often limited to just one copy and showcasing the iconic NBA logo patch cut from a game-used jersey. What sets this particular card apart is its unique feature – it is the first Jordan Logoman card to display a Chicago Bulls jersey. Graded as “Authentic” by PSA with a perfect 10 autograph, this card is truly a collector’s dream.

Described by Goldin founder and CEO Ken Goldin as “long lost,” this card made its debut in the public domain after years of unconfirmed whereabouts. Its appearance at the Goldin auction in 2022 marked the first time it was available for public sale, causing a frenzy among collectors and enthusiasts alike.

In a statement following the auction, Goldin emphasized the historical significance and importance of this card, dubbing it the “single best and most valuable Michael Jordan card ever produced.” The bidding war that ensued only solidified its status as a highly sought-after item in the sports memorabilia world.

While this Jordan card reached unprecedented heights in terms of value, it falls short of the record set by the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card that fetched a staggering $12.6 million. However, in the realm of sports memorabilia, Jordan still holds the crown with a jersey worn during Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals, the “Last Dance,” which sold for $10.1 million.

Among the other notable sales at the Goldin auction was a game-worn Kobe Bryant jersey from a memorable game where he suffered a torn Achilles but still managed to sink two crucial free throws. This jersey, worn during the Los Angeles Lakers’ clash with the Golden State Warriors, fetched an impressive $1.2 million, cementing Bryant’s legacy in the world of sports collectibles.
