The Future of Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz Trilogy

The prospect of a third fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz is looming large. Diaz expressed his conviction on Friday that another showdown with McGregor is inevitable. Despite their previous encounters in the UFC in 2016, where Diaz claimed victory in one bout and McGregor emerged victorious in the other, Diaz is confident that they will meet in the octagon once more. Speaking at a media event to promote his upcoming boxing match with Jorge Masvidal, Diaz stated, “I 100 percent guarantee I’m going to fight Conor McGregor again.”

Potential Venue and Opponents

McGregor has hinted at the possibility of facing Diaz at the Sphere in Las Vegas over Mexican Independence weekend, as part of a planned UFC event at the venue. However, UFC CEO Dana White has dismissed this idea. Despite this, Diaz expressed openness to the matchup. In addition to McGregor, Diaz also mentioned potential rematches with Jake Paul and Leon Edwards, both of whom he faced in boxing and MMA, respectively. Diaz is also eager for an MMA rematch with Masvidal, following his defeat to Masvidal at UFC 244 in 2019.

Diaz and Masvidal are set to face off in a boxing match at the Forum in Inglewood, California. The match is contracted for 175 pounds and 10 rounds, marking Masvidal’s professional boxing debut. The event will be distributed by Fanmio, with a promotional tour spanning four cities, including Los Angeles, Miami, and New York.

Diaz praised Leon Edwards as one of the most intriguing figures in the UFC currently. Upon leaving the UFC as a free agent in 2022, Diaz highlighted Edwards as a standout in the promotion. He expressed interest in facing Edwards, applauding his skills and overall performance in the octagon. Diaz sees Edwards as a formidable opponent and an exciting challenge for his future fights.

Recent Defeat and Future Plans

Diaz is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul in his professional boxing debut. Despite this setback, Diaz remains focused on his upcoming matches and expressed confidence in his abilities. With a strong desire for rematches and new challenges, Diaz’s determination to excel in both boxing and MMA is unwavering.
