Recently, Tigres goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán has found himself in hot water with the Mexican Football Federation. After an investigation revealed his “inappropriate conduct” during Week 15’s Clásico Regio match against Monterrey, Guzmán has been handed an 11-game ban. This ban comes as a result of using a laser pointer towards Monterrey goalkeeper Esteban Andrada, a serious violation of federation rules.
In addition to the ban, Guzmán will also face a financial sanction and hours of community service. Tigres, the club he represents, has stated that they will apply internal sanctions as well. This incident not only reflects poorly on Guzmán but also on the entire Tigres organization.

Known for his antics on the field, Guzmán went viral last August for pulling a ribbon out of his mouth to distract a penalty-taker during the Leagues Cup. As Tigres prepare to face Necaxa in an upcoming match, they will have to do so without their veteran goalkeeper. Monterrey, on the other hand, sits comfortably in 3rd place in the table and will visit Leon on the same day.
