Domínguez made his big league debut last year, but his season was cut short due to Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. Despite his potential, the Yankees have yet to bring him back up to the majors.

Verdugo’s consistency and contribution to the team have made him a valuable asset in the outfield. With 11 homers and 56 RBIs, Verdugo has been a reliable presence in the lineup.
Roster Decisions
When the big league rosters expanded to 28 players, the Yankees activated first baseman Anthony Rizzo and brought up outfielder/pinch-runner Duke Ellis from Triple-A. Despite these moves, Jasson Domínguez remained in the minors. Cashman mentioned that if Domínguez were to be called up, he would need to have a significant role in the team’s lineup. The Yankees have been struggling as of late, with a series of losses leading up to the matchup against the Chicago Cubs.
The Yankees have been facing challenges with their bullpen, particularly with the closer position. Clay Holmes, who has blown 11 saves in 40 chances, has been struggling to close out games.
