Inter Miami CF head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino recently addressed the limitations faced by the club in signing high-profile players like Ángel Di María and Sergio Romero due to Major League Soccer’s strict roster rules. Martino admitted that, despite interest in players of such caliber, the team is currently unable to financially and legally make such signings.
The MLS has specific economic restrictions in place which dictate the spending limits and roster constraints for each team. This would require the team to offload certain players to free up salary capacity space and generate allocation money before the compliance day deadline.
