The special event took place ahead of Inter Miami’s league victory over the Chicago Fire at Chase Stadium. Club president Jorge Mas presented Messi with a commemorative picture showcasing a montage of images of all the silverware Messi has won throughout his illustrious career, emphasizing the number 45.

During the event, Mas praised Messi, stating, “Tonight, we celebrate a great milestone for our captain Leo Messi in becoming the footballer who has lifted the most trophies in the history of the sport.” He also expressed confidence in Messi’s ability to achieve even more in the future, beyond his current 45 titles. The celebration was marked by fireworks and a video showcasing Messi’s remarkable accomplishments on the field.

Despite wearing a protective boot due to a ligament injury sustained during the Copa América final, Messi expressed his gratitude for the recognition from Inter Miami. Taking to Instagram, Messi thanked the club, saying, “Thank you very much for the recognition, @intermiamicf! It was a pleasure to be able to share this moment with our people on the field.”

Messi, who is 37 years old, achieved 35 of his 45 trophies during his impressive 17-season stint at Barcelona, including four Champions League titles. Following his time at Barcelona, Messi spent two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Inter Miami in the summer of 2023. In his first season with the club, Messi helped secure their first trophy, the 2023 Leagues Cup, adding to his already impressive collection of titles.
